Dr. Deanna Janora received her medical training in Philadelphia. In 1991, she received her M.D. degree and the Dorothea Daniels Glass award in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from Temple University School of Medicine. She then completed an Internship at Chestnut Hill Hospital, followed by a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Temple University Hospital and MossRehab Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor from 1994 to 1995.
Dr. Janora holds current board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation and electrodiagnostic medicine.
As the founding member of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the UMDNJ School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ-SOM) in Stratford, New Jersey, Dr. Janora started the first Spasticity Clinic in southern New Jersey, an area which remains a key interest of hers today. Dr. Janora has been an invited speaker at numerous professional conferences on the management of spasticity and pain with chemoneurolysis and botulinum toxins.
Dr. Janora has authored two book chapters and several posters including topics of electrodiagnostic medicine, osteoporosis education and gait changes with somatic dysfunctions. She participates in the residency program as Director of the monthly Journal Club and Facilitator of the Electrodiagnostic Medicine teaching section.
Believing that participation in professional societies is an important role for all physicians, especially women, Dr. Janora is an active member in the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), including serving as the national Resident Council Vice President from 1994 to 1995 and as a member of the Practice Guidelines Committee. She has contributed original questions for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation certifying examination.
Dr. Janora is also a proud 15-year member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists, where she has served on the Program Committee since 2001 and most recently was invited to be part of the Governance Committee. As a member of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Dr. Janora has served on the Training Program subcommittee which composes and reviews the Residents Electrodiagnostic Medicine Self Assessment Exam and also as an oral examiner for the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine certifying examination.
In addition to these professional societies, Dr. Janora has served on numerous medical school committees including the Curriculum Committee and Executive Committee at UMDNJ-SOM as well as the Graduate Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education Committees at UMDNJ-RWJ Medical School.
