School and Community Programs

JRI's Pediatric Rehabilitation Department has been providing children with educationally based services and medically based therapy throughout central New Jersey since 1977. Our school-based therapy services throughout the NJ area give children the special help they need to make the most of their educational experiences.

Our school-certified and licensed therapists offer pediatric therapy services in various local school districts. As an integral part of the educational team, they develop and implement educationally relevant programs to ensure progress and to enhance integration into the least restrictive environment.  Additionally, our staff provides training to schools and day care centers.

We also offer specialized pediatric therapeutic services to several medical institutions. Our collaborative efforts bring the beneficial therapies of the Pediatric Rehabilitation Department to children in outlying areas of the NY/NJ region who might otherwise not be able to benefit from pediatric specialists.

Our off-site community services include:

  • Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and feeding therapy for classified students in numerous local school districts

  • Speech therapy services at St. Peters Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ through the Outpatient Pediatric Speech Department, the Cleft Palate Cranio-Facial Clinic, the Neonatal High Risk Infant Follow-Up Program and the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery

  • Physical and occupational therapy at Newark Beth Israel's High Risk Infant Follow-Up Program and Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery in the northern New Jersey metropolitan area

  • Specialized physical therapy consultant services at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School for pediatric and adult patients with hemophilia, providing continuity of care through the life of the individual in coordination with other health care professionals

  • Specialized occupational therapy evaluations at the New Jersey Regional Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Diagnostic Center at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey

  • Speech and developmental screenings for children in nursery schools and day care centers
