Each patient receives a comprehensive evaluation during the first days of his or her inpatient stay in our NJ facility. Based upon the individual's needs and the team's recommendations, goals and a treatment program will developed. This program may address any of the following areas:

  • Walking or wheelchair mobility
  • Balance/coordination
  • Speech
  • Cognition
  • Vision
  • Swallowing or feeding
  • Transfers in/out of bed
  • Strengthening/stretching
  • Bowel and bladder function
  • Bathing/dressing
  • Adjustment issues
  • Medication education
  • Grooming
  • Driving
  • Leisure activities
  • Tub/shower/toilet use

The therapy schedule will include individual and group therapy. Specialized clinics are recommended as needed.

The length of each patient's inpatient hospital stay depends upon individual progress and the plan of care. The rehabilitation team meets weekly to discuss each patient's goals, progress and discharge plans. Family members are expected to take an active part in training and discharge planning. A variety of additional services for continued therapy are often recommended.
