Several of the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute outpatient programs are located on Oak Tree Road in Edison. These include the Center for Head Injuries and the Pediatric Rehabilitation Department.
Center for Head Injuries, Cognitive Rehabilitation Program
The Cognitive Rehabilitation Program is a nationally recognized brain injury program that provides comprehensive neurorehabilitation for clients who have sustained traumatic brain injuries.
Services include:
- Neuropsychology: Evaluation, Testing and Cognitive Treatment
- Case Management: Coordination of individual Client Program
- Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy: Evaluation
and Treatment
- Counseling: Therapy and Supportive Counseling for Issues of Adjustment for Clients and Their Families
- Educational and Vocational Services: Address the Community Re-entry needs of Clients

Pediatric Rehabilitation Program
Central Jersey's youngest residents can receive superior rehabilitation services at the JRI Pediatric Rehabilitation Program. Serving children from birth through adolescence, services include:
- Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapies
- Early Intervention (0-3) for Children with Developmental Delays
- Approved Private School for the Disabled, Preschool and Primary Classes for Children with Autism and PDD
- Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Evaluations, including and Approved Child Study Team
- Pediatric Neurology Evaluation and Management
- Psychotherapy, Counseling and Behavioral Therapy

Directions
From New York or Newark: Take the New Jersey Turnpike North to Exit 11. Pick up the Garden State Parkway North to Exit 131, making a right off the exit (Route 27). At the first light, (Wood Avenue), make a right. Proceed to the first traffic light, Oak Tree Road. (Burger King on left). Turn left onto Oak Tree Road and proceed through two traffic lights. Approximately .8 mile past the second traffic light (Grove Avenue) you will see a large red brick building on the right hand side. It is a former school. Sign on lawn says
"Hartwyck".
Or, if you take the Garden State Parkway South to Exit 131. Turn right at the end of the ramp. Proceed to second light (Wood Avenue). Follow remainder of directions for driving North.
From Philadelphia: Take the New Jersey Turnpike North to Exit 10 leading to Route 287 to Route 1 North. At the Menlo Park Mall, exit on the right, going around the jughandle onto Parsonage Road. Continue straight past the mall and underpass to a traffic light at Route 27 (landmarks are the Rite Aid on the left, Dunkin Donuts on the right). Parsonage Road becomes James Street, continue as above.
