Newborn Hearing Screening/Otoacoustic Emissions
(OAE)
The JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, along with affiliate JFK Medical Center, is committed to the early identification of hearing loss. A universal hearing screening program has been in place since 1996 at the medical center, where the goal is to test all newborns prior to discharge.
With early identification, intervention can be initiated as to not delay learning.
Should further services be required, the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute has a complete pediatric hearing testing program and a pediatric rehabilitation program.
