Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD/ADD) Services

Children with attention deficit disorder display no common set of behavioral symptoms. Some children may have trouble learning, some may experience social difficulties; some may exhibit behavioral problems; or some may experience a combination of all three. The JRI Pediatric Rehabilitation Department recognizes the uniqueness of every child. Our diagnostic and treatment teams tailor programs to suit each child's individual profile.

Diagnostic Evaluations may be performed by a:
  • Pediatric Neurologist
  • Psychologist
  • Speech/Language Pathologist
  • Learning disability specialist
  • Occupational therapist
  • Social Worker

Individual Therapy

Children and their families are provided with intensive one-on-one treatment.

  • Individual occupational therapy helps children experiencing fine motor difficulties who have problems with handwriting, coordination, sensory integration, organization and impulse control.
  • Psychotherapy and counseling helps children and their parents cope with the daily challenges of ADHD. Assistance is given on the management of daily behavioral problems of self-esteem issues.
  • Speech and language therapy assists children with ADHD who are having trouble processing and using language.

Group Program

Children with ADD/ADHD are given the opportunity to develop new skills, learn new behaviors and then practice them while they interact with peers in real-life settings.

  • Sensory Quest helps children improve their impulse control, attention span and organizational skills in play and learning situations.
  • Social Skills helps children who are having trouble with peer relationships develop friendship-making skills during play and discussion activities.
  • The Behavioral Management Group educates parents on how to develop or improve their behavior management skills.

If your child has ADHD or is suspected of having ADD/ADHD, our team can develop a program suited to his or her special needs.
